facilities to be vibrant, attract students and stays competitive. As a neighbor, I
want UNW to keep growing and be a vital part of our community for years and
years. I want them competitive and provide their students with the facilities for
activities promoting health and wellness. The students deserve this and we
should want it for them. Allow UNW the ability to provide an environment that
supports activities and health, maintaining their ability to be competitive and
vibrant.
4. Technology and Privacy: I have been on and near this campus many times, it is
secluded and private, many large trees surround the whole campus and outline
the fields and facilities. Other than from the lake, you hardly see it and notice
it. With new lighting technologies and the way this campus is laid out with tree
lines, I cannot see where there would ever be a concern for anyone. It is nothing
compared to the lights added to Roseville high school, where people are right
next to it without any tree line or separation. It is hard for me to even
understand the concern of anyone, this is why I refer to it as people with selfish
little concerns. There is not an issue here, it would be very disturbing if the
lights are not allowed because whoever is expressing concerns, there really are
not any.
In summary, I love living next to this campus, it is beautiful and well cared for. The
people I have interfaced with are terrific and the values of the campus leaders and
students are extremely high in character and morality. They have consistently shown
they are open and helpful to any concern they hear about, going over and beyond to
solve issues and support the community. This is a campus that will develop our future
leaders in this community, we need to care for the ability of the institution to provide
great facilities to promote active and healthy students. As a community we need to
realize change is good, we can all come up with little nuisances or irritations from a
selfish standpoint but need to be able to look beyond these and realize how and what
the changes do for our community and for the broader audience. The changes of
these lights for UNW fields will not have any real negative effects on anyone living close
to the campus. I hope as the leaders of this community you grant UNW to add lights to
their new development and not be influenced by petty self-centered concerns of those
resistant to change and growth.
Sincerely, Richard.R. Reynolds
3191 Shorewood Dr. Arden Hills, Mn. 55112
2746 Merrill St. Roseville, Mn. 55113
