I
have outlined below some key reasons why I passionately support the installation of
lights for the new sports fields at the University of Northwestern.
1. Trusted Neighbor: The University of Northwestern in Roseville has consistently
demonstrated they are and will be a great neighbor. From award winning care
for the lake to helping local neighbors kill wild growth within the woods that
align to owners property. They have strong rules for their students and expect
their behaviors and conduct to reflect high morale's, values and integrity. I am
thankful to live next to a growing campus that provides great guidance to their
students, not allowing disruptive behaviors. I am confident and know they will
work with any neighbor that ever experienced any concern.
2. Growth and Change: As a community we need to support growth and change.
To many times people get caught up in little things, like; size of a building,
widening a street, a new Presbyterian Homes, or in this case new lights on the
fields at UNW. They miss the bigger picture, like in this case the opportunity for
many young people to participate on the new fields at UNW all day and into
evenings/nights. The bigger impact a vibrant campus can have with youth
camps, local youth being able to play and learn. My homes backs up to the
newly developed Presbyterian Homes facility, I have support for this change.
Although it is bigger, has a lot more lights, had to remove trees, etc. It was a
big change that many complained about and tried to stop but what a wonderful
place for the senior citizens that live there. A new building, walking paths,
outdoor gathering and seating with views of the lake. I believe that change
creates opportunity for many, whether it's new fields with lights for UNW or a
new bigger Presbyterian Homes. Please do not allow the people with little
worries about themselves decide what could be a great change with tremendous
impact to many young active college students and other youth. This is a change
with investment in our youth and future, many that will stay here and impact
the local decisions of this community's future.
3. Healthy Active Youth: Part of important development of young people is
activities that support health and wellness. We have an epidemic in our country
of over eating and lack of activity, it starts with having environments that
support active youth. If we want a vibrant, ethical campus in Roseville, one that
is a great neighbor, one that has great conduct as a campus - they need the
