The Activity Center is old and in a bad location. It needs to move to the City Center The site can then be redeveloped. County Road B/Lexington is another site in the City available for redevelopment.- Public Safety Building, park? There probably is enough ball diamonds and ice rinks. This project will probably go to referendum. If the community goes ahead with the City Center what happens in the next 20 years? NIMBYISM and Financing will be key issues. Population over 55, conservative community. Roseville has never had school bond issue fail. The task force needs to take pulse of community. The results of Decision Resources' survey provides a good first step in the process. The City Center could be the location for centralized bus service for the community with the potential for a RoseviIle Park n' Ride. Roseville needs a "Lasting Piece". Create a planning & design framework for the City Center that can be implemented over time. What can and cannot happen? What are the constraints? How much stuff can we fit? Density and building height will be issues. Rosedale Center is the tallest building in Roseville and it is nine stories. A City Center "Campus" is not the model. The Civic Complex is an 8:00 - 5:00 place. A City Center needs to have: 1. 24-hour interest - self policing 2. Attract as much private investment as possible The Recreation component needs to cater to both tuxedo and sweat socks crowds. The John Rose Oval is self-sustaining, international venue. City Center should be: First Class. Quality materials, quality maintenance. The most uses and amenities for the least public money. Fun to come to.
