<br />The City Center should have an automobile orientation. It should also be well connected <br />by sidewalks and trails. <br />The transit circulator should connect the community to the City Center. <br />The rail corridor should be reserved as a transitlbusway. <br /> <br />There is a general lack of useable space in the existing civic center. <br />Larpenter Avenue streetscape is a positive step in improving the image of the City. <br />Funding from ISTEA. <br />A new Public Safety building is needed. <br />Public Works Department doesn't need to be in City Center <br />Lexington Avenue should be a boulevard. <br /> <br />County Road B/Lexington is another project the City is considering. <br />The options include; all park, a public building or the historic society/arts center <br /> <br />Activity Center needs to move to City Center <br />City Hall will continue to be part of City Center. <br />Parking will be an issue and additional development may require a parking ramp. <br />A community center should be a component of the City Center. It doesn't need to be a <br />Taj Mahal. A community center needs a 300 seat community room <br />There is probably not a need for a gymnasium. The City has two new full-size <br />gymnasiums as part of existing school facilities. <br />The Roseville gymnastic facility is another new asset to the community. <br /> <br />A walking track around the John Rose Oval might be a nice addition. <br />The City Center needs to be a place that the community can caU"home". A place to: <br />To learn <br />For government <br />For friendship <br />To be Proud of <br />For seniors to meet <br />A game room for the youth ofRoseville to enjoy. <br />Facilities that provide quality educationaVmedia resources to keep the kids off the streets. <br />Learning/Education should be key functions of the City Center. <br />The City Center should provide the opportunity for seniors to share their knowledge with <br />children - Mentoring programs. <br />Ideally there should be a referendum in November 1999 <br /> <br />The Greatest challenges are: <br />How to sell it? <br />Don't make it too glitzy. <br />Develop cooperation with the schools. <br />Pay attention to special interest groups. <br />
