Human Rights Commission Minutes
January 15, 2014
Chair Groff indicated he had discussed this item with the City Manager and the Commission
would be receiving a report from Administration as to the status. The Chair concluded that he
understood the City Manager was going to contact him when that report was complete. Staff
member Collins indicated she would look into the status of the report.
Future Agenda Items
No other future agenda items were raised.
Announcements
Commissioner Grefenberg indicated that the program planners are expecting commissioners to
act as note takers at the forum on immigrant experiences to follow after the meeting.
Commissioner Courneya recommended that if residents volunteer to be note takers that we allow
them in an effort to assist in any language barriers that may be present. Commissioner Courneya
indicated that this might help set the tone that the Commission was not there to guide the
discussion but to hear and learn what is going on. Commissioner Grefenberg added there would
be two tables of Karen residents that would have translators and encouraged people to join these
tables for the discussion.
Adjournment
Commissioner Singleton made motion to adjourn, Seconded by Vice Chair Becker. Motion
passed unanimously. Meeting adjourned at 6:49 p.m.
