Human Rights Commission Minutes <br />March 28, 2014 <br />Page 4 of 6 <br />Vice Chair Becker stated signs and banners were discussed at a previous meeting. <br />Chair Groff requested a member investigate the pricing for banners and report back to the HRC. <br />He anticipated this would be a large expense. <br />Commissioner Grefenberg was in favor of the HRC procuring a banner for the parade. In <br />addition, he wanted to see the HRC properly thank the Karen community dancers in some way. <br />He explained this could be as simple as a thank you and cold drinks after the parade. <br />Commissioner Brisbois suggested a reception not be held after the parade, as commission <br />members were exhausted after the 3�/z-hour parade. <br />Commissioner Singleton stated another option would be to present the dancers with certificates <br />at the September HRC meeting. <br />Commissioner Brisbois supported the idea of a thank you and cold drinks after the parade. <br />Ms. Collins explained that the parade would be televised and she could have the Karen <br />community dancers recognized during the parade on behalf of the HRC. The Commission <br />agreed with this recommendation. <br />Review of Calendar <br />Chair Groff reviewed the HRC calendar with the members present. <br />Update of HRC brochure <br />• Need to Add new commissioners <br />• Please review and submit ideas for changes <br />Vice Chair Becker discussed updates made to the HRC brochure. He noted all member names <br />would be revised. He requested the Commission members provide him with comments or <br />suggestions prior to the April 16th meeting. <br />Commissioner Grefenberg recommended the reference to City Code be amended to reflect the <br />revisions being considered by the HRC and City Council. <br />Commissioner Singleton requested the Naturalization Ceremony be added as a bullet point. <br />New Business <br />Chair's Report <br />• Annual Meeting of League of Minnesota Human Rights Commissions <br />
