Inc. request for a <br />special use permit at 1655 County Road B-2. <br /> <br />Backqround: <br /> <br />1. City ordinances indicate that amusement establishments are a <br />use by special use permit in the S-C Shopping Center zoning <br />district. <br /> <br />2. The applicant is proposing to construct a golf training and <br />recreational facility in the space previously occupied by the <br />International Fitness Club at the Crossroads Shopping Center. <br />Staff has determined that this facility would constitute a <br />amusement facility. <br /> <br />3 . The Planning Commission unanimously recommended approval of <br />the request for special use permit for a amusement center <br />based on the plans submitted. <br /> <br />4. The City council, at the request of the applicant continued <br />this request from May 28, 1991 until June 10, 1991. <br /> <br />Alternatives: <br /> <br />1. Deny the special use permit request based on the finding that <br />the proposed amusement establishment would be detrimental to <br />the general health, safety, and welfare of the adjacent <br />neighborhood and community. <br /> <br />2. Approve the special use permit request with reasonable <br />related conditions if deemed necessary. <br /> <br />Policy Obiectives: <br /> <br />1. To insure that properties are developed which do not <br />adversely affect the general health or public welfare of the <br />neighborhood or general community. <br /> <br />Staff Recommendation: <br /> <br />1. It is recommended that the City Council approve John <br />Ebeling/Welsh Co. Inc.'s request for a special use permit to <br />allow a 14,OOO sq. ft. amusement center at 1655 W. County <br />
