Lonnie Brokke, Director of Parks and Recreation <br />Recommendation for Contract Award, Parks and Recreation Renewal Program <br />6 May 2014 <br />Page 2 <br />Proposal Package `C' Harriet Alexander Nature Center building improvements <br />LHB has reviewed the proposal and scope prepared by Black� Dew and find the <br />proposal meets the technical requirements of the plans and specifications for <br />building improvements at the HANC. The proposal aligns with the intentions of <br />the preliminary design and the Parks and Recreation System Master Plan. <br />During clarification, a value option for eliminating temporary heat during <br />construction was accepted by the city, which resulted in a savings for the city; <br />heat will be provided through the buildings existing system. In addition, the work <br />will include replacement of all gutters on the buildings, resulting in a minimal <br />additional cost for the work while creating aesthetic consistency in the finished <br />construction. <br />Proposal Package `D' Bridges and Harriet Alexander Nature Center Boardwalk <br />LHB has reviewed the proposal prepared by Janke General Contractors, Inc. and <br />find the proposal as well as scope adjustments prepared in concert with Parks <br />and Recreation Department staff ineet the technical requirements of the plans <br />and specifications for bridges at Villa Park and the boardwalk improvements at <br />the HANC. The proposal aligns with the intentions of the preliminary design and <br />the Parks and Recreation System Master Plan. <br />During clarification, value added options were discussed with the proposer and <br />resulted in additional work becoming a part of the scope. The options included <br />methods of construction that improve durability and offer ways of adjusting the <br />boardwalk as settling occurs in the future. <br />Proposal Package `E' Lighting and controls <br />LHB has reviewed the proposal submitted by Peterson Companies, Inc. and the <br />scope adjustments prepared by Killmer Electric Company, Inc. in concert with <br />Parks and Recreation Department staff ineet the technical requirements of the <br />plans and specifications for lighting and controls improvements. <br />During clarification, scope adjustments were made to modify the control systems <br />for rinks and tennis courts that would allow for greater ease of use by park users. <br />Scope adjustments also resulted in a more targeted approach to field lighting <br />replacement. <br />Proposal Package `F' Tennis court improvements <br />LHB has reviewed the proposal submitted by Bituminous Roadways, Inc. as well <br />as scope adjustments prepared in concert with Parks and Recreation Department <br />staff and find the documents meet the technical requirements of the plans and <br />specifications for tennis court and other court improvements. <br />During the clarification stage, value added suggestions were reviewed.
