The City is in the process of reviewing all official controls <br />regulating signs. <br /> <br />2. The Planning Commission has recommended that the City council <br />adopt a moratorium on sign variance applications while the <br />sign ordinance is under review. <br /> <br />3. There are currently five sign variance requests being <br />discussed with City staff. ·These include a sign height <br />variance for Fuddruckers at 2740 Snelling Avenue and <br />Northstar Bank request for sign setback variance at 1820 <br />Lexington Avenue. Staff has also received requests from <br />Investors Savings, First American Bank, and Premier Bank for <br />variances to flashing sign requirements for their electronic <br />message centers. Based on the Council's intent at the work <br />session, the moratorium would apply to all of the <br />aforementioned applications with the exception of <br />Fuddruckers. <br /> <br />Staff Recommendation: <br /> <br />1. It is recommended that the City council pass the attached <br />ordinance declaring a six month moratorium on consideration <br />of all sign variance applications. It is also implied that <br />this moratorium will apply to all variance requests which <br />have not been acted upon by the City Council including all of <br />those in process excluding Fuddruckers. <br /> <br />Council Action Requested: <br /> <br />1. <br /> <br />Motion to approve the <br />month moratorium on <br />applications. <br /> <br />attached ordinance declaring a six <br />consideration of sign variance <br />
