City ordinances indicate beauty parlors with one operator and <br />which see customers by appointment only are uses by Special <br />Use Permit in the R-1 Zoning District. city ordinances also <br />indicate that the beauty shop must meet the restrictions <br />outlined in the home occupation section of the code which <br />limit the home occupation to one room in the principal <br />dwelling and which prohibits the employment of any persons <br />not residing in the residence. The ordinance also states <br />that the Council may approve the equipment to be used. The <br />ordinance also limits signage to one non-illuminated sign not <br />exceeding 3 sq. ft. in area. <br /> <br />2. Patricia Curtiss is a beautician and wants to operate a <br />beauty parlor out of her home at 1987 Aldine Street. Mrs. <br />curtiss indicates that she will abide by all the ordinance <br />requirements. <br /> <br />3. The Planning Commission on a five to one vote recommended <br />approval of Patricia curtiss t s request for a Special Use <br />Permit at 1987 Aldine Street in the operation of a home <br />occupation beauty parlor with the following conditions. <br /> <br />1. Customers must park in the driveway. <br /> <br />2. That there be no signage allowed. <br /> <br />3. That business be limited to no more than 30 hours per <br />week. <br /> <br />ALTERNATIVES: <br /> <br />1. Deny the request based on the finding that the proposal does <br />not meet the requirements of the zoning code and would be <br />detrimental to the general health, safety and welfare of the <br />neighborhood. <br /> <br />2. To approve the Special Use Permit request based on the <br />finding that the proposal meets all the requirements of the <br />
