June 3, 1993

Mr. Keith Wietecki
City of Roseville Planning Commission
2428 Farrington Circle
Roseville, MN 55113

Dear Mr. Wietecki.

My name is Karen J. Olson and I live at 1301 W. Burke Avenue. I am writing to you concerning the
proposed exchange of property of the old Lexington School property and Bruce Russell Park. My
position on this issue is one of great excitement. not only for the neighborhoods surrounding the
Lexington Park, but for the City of Roseville as well.

I am an active member of a church community, and see the issues facing Roseville Lutheran square
in their face. Roseville Lutheran provides many opportunites for their members to be involved in the
church, and for them to go out and be leaders in other community based organizations. Roseville
Lutheran Church is not looking to expand their building, but to expand the ministries and programs
that they can provide their membership and thus the communities that their members live and work
in. These opportunities would not be limited to the whims of Minnesota weather. as the Church
could provide opportunities beyond what a baD diamond and green space can provide.

The aCQuistion of the old Lexington School property for park land is a very forward-looking
opportunity. To have the City of Roseville control that acreage will indicate to City residents that the
City is taking charge of their future. The City of Roseville's VISTA 2000 program last Fall was a big
success. in my mind. It focused on many issues, of which one was continuing to provide quality
programs and services for the City's residents. Through this exchange. Roseville Lutheran is
offering to HELP in that process at a nominal cost to the City. and to contribute m~lions of its
members own dollars to implement the City's Plan. I commend any organization that is willing to
take ownership of a piece of these issues that face the City of Roseville.

I again stress to you the importance of this issue for the future of the City and for the future of an
important piece of the City's social fabric in Roseville Lutheran Church. Please give this your
positive support. Thank you for your work and effort in the process of this issue and for taking the
time to read this letter. Your time and talent that you offer our City's residents is to be commended.
Thank you.

Karen J. Olson ~911fW ~
1301 W. Burke Avenue ~
Roseville. MN 55113
