STS
understands that the Roseville School District intends on removing this underground
storage tank and therefore requires the location of this tank system within the pro-
perty boundaries of the Lexington School. In addition to locating this tank. STS
Consultants, Ltd. performed two soil borings next to and on top of the fuel oil tank
system.

Location of Tank

A magnetometer was utilized to locate Tank # 1. The magnetometer is an instrument used
to locate metal objects beneath the ground. The magnetometer is not meant as a tool
for the exact determination of the size and dimensions of a tank. therefore the loca-
tion and size of the tank identified is approximate.

Figure 1 enclosed with this letter illustrates the approximate location of the under-
ground storage fuel oil tank, Tank # I. In addition. photograph # I, also enclosed with
this letter. shows the approximate location of this tank in relation to the building.
The exact size and dimensions of this tank system are unknown. Based upon the results
of the magnetometer survey it appears that the tank is approximately 6 feet in length
and 3 feet wide. The Roseville School District provided a plan map describing the
capacity and location of this tank. The map illustrated the tank in the same location
as the results of the site survey. The map indicated the capacity of the tank to be
250 gallons. The calculated capacity from the survey found the tank to be relatively
consistent with the identified capacity.
