Roseviile Schooi District #623
STS Project #94879-XF
October 11. 1989
Page 2

The general outline of the tank appears to be paraJ1el with the north face of the
building wall. The tank appears to be located beneath a grass covered landscaped
area. Offset vent and fill lines for the tank are located against the building wall.

Soil Borings

Two hand augered soil borings were conducted at the site. Boring B-1 was performed
adjacent to the tank system on the northwest side of the tank. Boring B-2 was per-
formed above the tank to confirm the location of the tank system.

Locations of borings B-1 and B-2 are identified in Figure 1. In addition, photographs
# I and #2 show the location of borings B-1 and B-2. The description of soils encoun-
tered in borings B-1 and B-2 are presented as follows:

Soil Boring B-1

Depth
(Feet)

Soil Description

0.0 - 0.6
0.6 - 7.2

Silty sand, trace organics. trace gravel - black - moist - (SM) fiJ1.
Sandy clay. trace gravel - brown - moist - (CL) fill.

End of boring at 7.2 feet.
Hand auger utilized.
No petroleum odors.
No groundwater.

Soil Boring B-2

Depth
(Feet)

0.0 - 0.5
0.5-1.1

Soil Description

Silty sand. trace organics. trace gravel - black - moist - (SM) fill.
Clayey sand; trace gravel - brown - moist - (CL) fill.

End of boring at I. 1 feet.
Hand auger utilized.
Refusal at top of tank.
No petroleum odors.
No groundwater encountered.

HNU Survey

The HNU Model ] 0 I photoionization meter was used to examine the soil samples for
volatile organic vapor content. The HNU meter was equipped with a 10.2 eV lamp cali-
brated to a benzene reference. HNU meter deflections in parts per million (ppm) were
