The Council
asked that I meet with you and c1arHy what the noise reducti>n program must
accanpJish prior to issuance c:l a Certificate of Occupancy by the City Building
Official. The basic goal of the program is to contain noise to a level of 50
decibeJs as heard from the adjacent residences and the city park.

1) New sound baffles and shieJds will be installed on aU equipment with
a sound Jeve! over 50 dba to meet the State and City noise
standards. A plan for these improvements has been worked on
cooperatively by our sound consultant David Breslau and ACI Plant
Manager Dan McCarthy. The construction of these improvements is
under 'W8.y.

2) ACI and ran M:Carthy will work with his staff to reduce noise from
the doors and overhead gamge doors being left open.

3) ACI and Dan Mccarthy will instaJl new machinery where okl noisier
machinery exists and cannot be quieted to SO dba or less.

4) ACI and Dan McCarthy will control their truck deliveries and BFI
trash removal to normal business hours of 7:00 am to 6:00 pm. daily.

5) ACI will complete construction of a masonry building and connecti>n
bet\\1een the two existing ACI buildings on the north side d. Terrace
Drive. This addition will eliminate the need for outdoor truck and
product movement activities along the north side of the building.

6) Mr. Breslau and our Cit;y P1anner Mike Fa1k, who has worked with
the adjoining neighbors all summer, have b<i:h commended the wack
that Dan Mccarthy has done to respond to noise concerns. But, they
recanmended that ACI corporate Jeaders play a more active role in
convincing the nearby property owners that the sound reductbn
program is an earnest effort by ACI and the City. A meeting with
you, Dln McCarthy, and the neighborhood representatives may add
lOOre credibiH.ty to your efforts and reduce the tensions.
