PUBLIC DOCUMENT-TRADE SECRET DATA HAS BEEN EXCISED <br />Comcast of Minnesota <br />Page 12 <br />from across the Twin Cities in an effort to encourage and promote the progress <br />of tomorrow's leaders. <br />Comcast has also taken an active role in bridging the digital divide <br />through its innovative Internet Essentials program. As the natiori s leading <br />broadband provider, this ambitious and comprehensive broadband adoption <br />initiative has been designed specifically for low-income families with children <br />enrolled in the National Free and Reduced School Lunch Program, all with the <br />goal of making the Internet available at a significantly reduced cost. In <br />addition, Comcast makes low-cost computers available for these students and <br />families, as well as free online and in-person training on how to use the Internet <br />safely and effectively. <br />H. Comcast has the full capability to perform. <br />The applicant is Comcast of Minnesota — an indirect subsidiary of Comcast <br />Corporation, which is the largest cable operator in the United States. Founded <br />in 1963, Comcast Corporation has over 24.4 million subscribers in 39 states and <br />the District of Columbia, and has constructed and operated advanced cable <br />systems across the nation, with unparalleled experience and expertise in <br />advanced cable technology, maintenance, and operation. <br />As publicly filed documents show, Comcast Corporation is financially <br />sound. In 2012, Comcast Corporation reported over $62 billion in revenue, and <br />over $164 billion in assets. These numbers clearly demonstrate that Comcast of <br />Minnesota has access to all the financial resources necessary to meet its <br />franchise obligations in the NSCC, with the backing of Comcast Corporation. <br />Comcast of Minnesota has never failed to meet all of its financial obligations in <br />more than a decade of operations in these communities. <br />I. Other Issues Requested in the RFRP <br />The RFRP requested that this executive summary also address the <br />following topics. Comcast is not proposing any change in the ownership and <br />management of the system. As addressed above, there are no material system <br />design, construction, or upgrade plans that should be incorporated into the <br />franchise renewal because Comcast will continue to innovate and invest in the <br />cable system due to the need to compete with other multi-channel-service and <br />over-the-top video providers in the marketplace. There are no material <br />proposed changes in program or other services, other than the continued <br />development of innovative and popular new services by Comcast as customers <br />and the marketplace demand.
