NARRATIVE
ROSEVILLE GOOD SAMARITAN CENTER
ROSEVILLE, MINNESOTA

INTRODUCTION

Roseville Good Samaritan Center was acquired by the Evangelical Lutheran Good Samaritan
Society in October, 1992. Previously known as the Golden Age Health Care Center, Roseville
GSC was founded in the late 1950's. This care center has enjoyed a good reputation in providing
quality nursing home care for residents in need of such care in the Roseville community, The
center is a licensed nursing home with a occupancy potential of 133 residents. The census has
normally been above 96%, thus showing peak demand for its services.

Problems ~ and why project is needed:

1. Space limitations
2. No drive-up front entry
3. Congested rear entry
4. Four locations required for resident dining
5. Lack of office space
6, Physical therapy in the basement
7. Small, congested main dining room
8. Lack of adequate employee lounge
9. No canopy to protect incoming residents, visitors from inclement weather
10. Activity space undesirable

How Roseville Good Samaritan Center project will improve quality of life for residents,
staff, families and community:

1, Space Limitations

The current new entry is too congested, as it is located by the nursing station. The new
entry on the Northeast side of the building will provide better flow for incoming families,
visitors and vendors. The staff will enter through a lower entrance into the basement, thus
removing significant congestion near the current entry by the nurses station. The addition
towards the front of the building will allow for increased resident lounge space and
provide three new offices for the social worker, administrator and director of nursing.

1
