<br />result, the main floor of the new Worship Center can be constructed <br />at the same level as the basement Fellowship Hall below the <br />existing sanctuary. If it was a residence, one might call this <br />addition a "walk-out". <br />Phase I of the Worship Center addition will accommodate about <br />800 seats on the baseball field level. The design also includes a <br />flat floor balcony in the new Worship Center at the main floor <br />level of the existing building. The balcony space will not have <br />risers and seats installed until the congregation expands to <br />require them. It will be used for youth activities, meetings and <br />offices. In Phase II, eight to ten years from now, RLC will add <br />parking and more seats in the Worship Center and the balcony. This <br />design maximizes access for the disabled by eliminating any steps <br />between the existing levels and the new addition. It also reduces <br />the Worship Center profile in comparison to the same facility with <br />a basement constructed beneath it. <br />The proposed Worship Center roof will be approximately five <br />feet taller than the roof of the current sanctuary, which has been <br />on the site since 1969. Looking from the west and the north, the <br />elevations of the new worship Center are within the height <br />specification for R-l property. Viewed from the much lower level <br />of the current baseball field, however, the Worship Center will be <br />about ten feet over the thirty-foot specification. <br />TO further minimize the impact of the addition in the <br />neighborhood, the new Worship Center is centered in the middle of <br />the property.
