Human Rights Commission Minutes <br />May 21, 2014 <br />Page 3 of 6 <br />Vice Chair Becker stated a banner is something that could be reused at all of the events they <br />host. <br />Vice Chair Becker moved and Commissioner Singleton seconded a motion to authorize an <br />expenditure of no more than $250.00 for the purchase of a banner and pole and the final printing <br />to be authorized by the Operations Committee. <br />Ms. Collins asked that she get a proof of the printing to have it reviewed by the Communications <br />Staff. <br />The motion carried unanimously. <br />Review of Calendar <br />Chair Groff reviewed the HRC calendar with the members present. <br />Consider Commission Discussion of Human Rights Articles <br />Commissioner Slade provided the Commissioners with articles regarding mental illness and <br />trauma care and how this is related to the community. She asked the Commissioners to read <br />these and they could have discussions at the next meeting about being able to present this <br />information to the community, either through a summit or dialogue. <br />Ms. Collins suggested contacting the ACT, which is an Alzheimer's and Dementia group, and <br />requesting a couple of inembers to speak to the Commission about Roseville specific problems. <br />Commissioner Slade stated Roseville does not have a lot of inental health resources available. <br />It was the consensus of the Commission to discuss program opportunities to present information <br />to the residents and also looking at the CIT team for input. <br />Commissioner Bachhuber suggested the Commission also consider a community read program <br />that could pertain to human rights and they could partner with the public library. <br />Chair Groff asked for additional information. <br />Commissioner Slade stated this could be linked to the articles she presented so the community <br />could get involved in the discussions. <br />Vice Chair Becker stated this could also be incorporated into the essay contest. <br />It was the consensus of the Commission to have Commissioner Bachhuber gather additional <br />information about the program and provide a report at the next meeting. <br />
