<br />DESCRIPTORS: Label industry--Innovations <br />FULL TEXT: <br /> <br />Trials of bar code labels with leading printed circuit board <br />manufacturers have proved that computype's newest harsh environment label <br />can withstand the toughest treatment and still read perfectly. <br />Thirteen PCB manufacturers were invited by a researcher from <br />Computype's European Headquarters to give the labels their toughest <br />treatment and comment on the results. Tested against other leading bar code <br />labels, the new label read accurately first time every time it was scanned. <br />It also survived wave sOldering, infra-red, water jets, solvents and <br />detergents, temperatures in excess of 480/degrees <br /> <br />C -- even a three-second immersion in molten solder at 235 Idegrees <br /> <br />C -- and still adhered to the circuit boards in perfect condition.
