<br />703.7 <br /> <br />703.8 <br /> <br />700-4 <br /> <br />required of any trees or shrubbery the loss. or damage or which <br />could not be avoided by reason of the new construction or by the <br />exercise of reasonable precautions. <br /> <br />RESTORATION 9F MISCELLANEOQS ITEMS <br /> <br />Wherever any curbing, curb and gutter sections, pedestrian <br />walks, fencing, driveway surfacing, or other improvements are <br />removed or in any way damaged, they shall be restored to <br />original condition unless o~herwise shown on the plans or <br />designated by the ENGINEER by repair or replacement as the <br />ENGINEER considers necessary. Replacement of old materials will <br />be acceptable only to the extent that existing quality can be <br />fully achieved, such as in the case of fencing. otherwise new <br />materials shall be provided and placed as the ENGINEER directs. <br />Workmanship and finished quality ,shall be equal to that of new <br />construction, where new materials are used, to the extent <br />obtainable in consideration of operational restrictions. <br /> <br />. <br />A proper foundation shall be prepared before reconstruoting <br />concrete or bituminous improvements. un~ess otherwise directed, <br />granular material shall be placed to a depth of at least four <br />inches under all concrete and bituminous items. No direct <br />compensation will be made for furnishing and placing this <br />material even though such course was not part of the original <br />oonstruction. <br /> <br />Before commencing work" the CONTRACTOR shall cut a straight edge <br />in the existing surface so as to disturb the least amount of <br />surfacing. Before resurfacing, the CONTRACTOR shall squ~re off <br />all edges so that a neat appearing patch can be made. The <br />appropriate mechanical cutting tools shall be used for this <br />work. <br /> <br />MAINTENANCE AND FINAL CLEANUP <br /> <br />All subgrade surfaces shall be maintained acceptably until the <br />start of surfacing oonstruction or restoration work, and until <br />the work has been finally accepted. Additional materials shall <br />be provided and plaoed as needed to compensate for trench <br />settlement and to serve as temporary construction pending <br />completion of the final surface improvements. <br /> <br />Final disposal of debris, waste materials, and other remains or <br />consequences of construction, shall be accomplished intermit- <br />tently as new construotion items are completed apd shall not be <br />left to await final completion of all work.
