<br />2.4 Site Limits <br /> <br />No equipment will be allowed to cross river or stream <br />beds. The construction limits shall be the property <br />lines, street right-of-ways, and borrow areas. <br /> <br />3.0 EXECUTION <br /> <br />3.1 Clearing <br /> <br />The site of all grading shall be cleared of rocks, <br />boulders, trees, stumps, brush and other vegetation. <br />Stumps and roots two inches or larger in diameter shall <br />be removed to a depth of not less than 12 inches and <br />stones and boulders six inches or greater in the longest <br />dimension to a depth of six inches below the finished <br />subgrade. Stone and boulders shall be removed from site <br />or buried in an area and manner approved by the <br />Engineer. <br /> <br />3.2 stripping <br /> <br />The site topsoil shall be stripped of vegetation to a <br />depth of 12 inches or to such greater depth as may be <br />necessary to remove roots of grass and other organic <br />matter. <br /> <br />3.3 Disposal of Unsuitable Materials <br /> <br />The Contractor shall be responsible for disposal of all <br />debris resulting from site preparation operations, <br />including trees, brush, roots and sod stripping. <br />Combustible material may be burned at the site if <br />practical to do so without creating a hazard and only <br />after obtaining a proper burning permit in accordance <br />with area burning laws. <br /> <br />3.4 Subgrade Preparation <br /> <br />Prior to placement of fill and after rough grading in <br />cut areas, the subgrade shall be proof rolled with a <br />grader, loader, or fully loaded tandem-axil dump truck <br />with a minimum gross weight of 25 tons. Unsuitable <br />areas observed shall be improved by compaction or by <br />replacement with a suitable compacted fill.
