MEMORANDUM
MEETING LOCATION IS Roseville City Hall 2660 Civic Center Drive
To: Parks and Recreation Commission
From: Lonnie Brokke
Date: December 30, 2008
Re: Notes for Commission Meeting on Tuesday January 6, 2009
1. Introductions/Public Comment Invited
Commissioners and staff will be introduced. Public participation and public comment is
encouraged.
2. Approval of Minutes of the December 2, 2008 Meeting
Enclosed is a copy of the minutes of December 2, 2008. Please be prepared to approve or
amend.
Requested Commission Action
: Approve/amend minutes of the meeting of December 2,
2008.
3. Roseville Area High School Athletic Director
Jenny Loeck, Roseville Area High School Athletic Director has requested to attend your
January commission meeting providing you with overview of facilities and cooperative efforts.
Enclosed is a copy of her PowerPoint presentation.
Requested Commission Action:
Questions, comments, discussion.
4. Muriel Sahlin Arboretum Restroom/Multi Purpose Facility
Much of the funding for the development of the Muriel Sahlin Arboretum has been through the
Roseville Central Park Foundation and numerous other contributors. The facility has become a
highly desired facility in Roseville with various types of uses evolving over the past few years,
i.e. weddings, receptions, special events, taste of Rosefest, photo opportunities, etc. Many
groups and individuals, including the arboretum committee and the Parks and Recreation
Commission have been involved in the planning of this facility.
The original arboretum concept plan included a standalone restroom facility located just north
of the water fountain. Because of the types of usage over the past several years, the demand
and desires have changed to include interest in expanding from the restroom only concept to
providing a multipurpose facility, possibly in a different location, so that receptions and other
small functions could occur on site in an enclosed area.
As you are aware, the Roseville Central Park Foundation has been very interested in the
restroom addition and is willing to contribute a substantial amount of the construction costs.
Several representatives will be at your January commission meeting to communicate their
specific proposal to you and seek your recommendation to take to the Roseville City Council.
Enclosed are:
Arboretum concept plans identifying the 3 possible locations for the facility
Construction cost estimate dated 4/5/06
Revenue analysis scenarios dated 10/30/08
Recent drawings and cost estimates from Busch Architects dated 11/12/08
