Cover letter information: <br />Master Plan Purpose <br />The members of the Roseville City Council, City Manager's office, Parks and <br />Recreation Commission, Parks and Recreation Staff, Imagine Roseville 2025 <br />visioning process have recognized the need to evaluate the parks and recreation <br />department's facilities and programs and prepare a comprehensive master plan <br />for parks and recreation through the year 2020. <br />The City will consider hiring a professional park planning firm to assist with <br />preparing a new comprehensive system plan to forecast the recreation and park <br />needs thorough 2020. The task will be to evaluate the existing programs and <br />facilities offered through the Roseville Parks and Recreation Department and <br />develop new strategies in meeting future recreation needs. A key objective in <br />preparing the plan is to extensively involve the public in helping identify both <br />current and future recreation needs. Residents of the Roseville area must <br />actively participate in the planning effort by attending workshops at various <br />locations in the city. <br />The main purpose of this master plan is to provide the City with an accurate and <br />usable plan to guide its actions and decisions concerning: <br />Facilities and programming <br />Open space and land acquisition and management <br />Partnerships <br />Major maintenance concerns for current and proposed facilities <br />The Master plan is anticipated to be organized into categories such as: <br />1- Update or create individual park master plans for selected parks <br />2- review of demographic and physical information <br />3- inventory and analysis of existing park and recreation facilities <br />4- inventory and analysis of existing recreation programs <br />5- recreation standards and community needs assessment <br />6- master plan a proposal and recommendation <br />7- action plan implementation <br />The anticipated next step: <br />1- finalize and Issue RFP <br />2- select planning firm <br />3- identify team <br />4- start process <br />5- ............. <br />Page 1 of 18 <br />
