ROSEVILLE PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION <br />MINUTES OF MEETING OF SEPTEMBER 2, 2008 <br />ROSEVILLE SKATING CENTER FIRESIDE ROOM — 6:30PM. <br />PRESENT: Brodt Lenz, Hiber, Kamrath, Kendall, Kruzel, Pederson, Ristow, Stark <br />ABSENT: Johnson, Wi11mils (contacted staff prior to meeting) <br />STAFF: Brokke, Anfang, Tullberg, Evenson <br />INTRODUCTIONS/ROLL CALL/PUBLIC COMMENT <br />Brent Huberty offered to take Commissioners on a tour of the Lake Elmo Archery Range as a follow-up to his <br />archery range proposal presentations. Commissioners to check their schedules and discuss the possibility of a <br />tour in October. <br />2. APPROVAL OF MINUTES —AUGUST 5, 2008 MEETING <br />Commission Recommendation: Minutes for the August 5, 2008 meeting were approved unanimously. <br />TOUR OF SKATING CENTER ARENA GEOTHERMAL PROJECT <br />Brad Tullberg, Skating Center Superintendent, welcomed Commissioners to the Skating Center and led a tour <br />of the Arena renovation project including the geothermal energy system. <br />4. COMPREHENSIVE PLAN COMMITTEE UPDATE <br />Brokke briefed the Commission on the events of the recent Comp Plan Open House. A second Open House <br />is scheduled for August 27. The final Comp Plan steering committee meeting is scheduled for September 11. <br />Committee members are in the process of defining final issues to address. <br />5. MASTER PLAN REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS <br />Brokke explained that staff are looking to take a draft of the .RFP to Council in September. The plan is to <br />distribute the RFP to six planning firms for their consideration. <br />As a1 the commission went through the draft RFP page -by -page to make recommendations. In addition, <br />Stark will be sending the RFP to Commissioners for additional comments. <br />6. PATHWAY COMMITTEE UPDATE <br />Sarah Brodt Lenz reported that the pathway master plan updates have been completed. <br />Commission Recommendation: <br />Motion by Pederson recommending the Commission endorse the Pathway Master flan. Second by Stark. <br />Motion passed unanimously. <br />7. DIRECTORS REPORT <br />Roseville University, a study of Roseville City Government begins September 4, 2008; the Parks and <br />Recreation session is scheduled for Thursday, September 11, 2008. <br />Solar Tube Lighting has been installed at the Nature Center for enhanced lighting and energy savings. <br />Ramsey County Sentence to Service has been contacted to remove the Boardwalk at the Nature Center. <br />Staff are working with STS staff on the project details. <br />Respectfully Submitted, <br />Jill Anfang, Assistant .Director <br />
