Recommendation <br />The Parks and Recreation Commission has been discussing the rates for the <br />past several months. At their November 7, 2006 meeting they recommended that <br />the residential rate increase from $1000 to $2000 per unit based upon the <br />following rational: <br />• The increased use of the Park and Recreation System that is created <br />The surrounding community comparisons <br />® The need to preserve our parks and facilities <br />O The City Council request that the Parks and Recreation Commission to <br />ways to raise reasonable funds <br />The existing investment in the Parks and Recreation System and the need <br />to preservelenhance that investment <br />The existing land values <br />• The quality and the extent of the existing parks and facilities with the dire <br />need to replace/upgrade/enhance <br />At this time the commission does not recommend an increase in <br />commercial/industrial fees but will be analyzing and discussing this further at a <br />future meeting. <br />Staff concurs with this recommendation. <br />Please let me know if you have any questions. <br />Thank you. <br />• Page 2 <br />
