PostbulIetin.corn: Geotherrr-nal tapped for Graharn rink ice - Wed, Apr 25, 2007 Page 2 of 2
Fourth arena on the site.
The arena project includes construction of a lobby
area linking the four arenas under one roof.
It saves on cost and time for the Graham West
project to be done now, rather than at sorne paint
farther in the future, Cousino said. Its geothermal
system will be linked to the one being built for
Graham IV.
Eventually, all of the arenas' ice -making equipment
will have to be replaced. The older systems run on a
coolant that, for environmental reasons, will no
longer be available for purchase after 2020.
Those ice -making systems themselves cannot be
replaced with similar systems after 2010, Cousino
said.
The systems in Graham East and North were
installed in 1993 and 1997, respectively.
Commissloners debated whether it made economic
sense to replace all of the ice -making systems now,
but "those (newer) systems should be good for a
while," said board Chairman Jim Bier.
OUR
http://postbullctin.com/newsmanager/templates/]ocalnews_story,asp?a=291945&z=2 4/25/2007
