Minutes - HANC Planning Committee <br />Meeting #1, Apri12 6, 2007 <br />PRESENT: Sarah Brodt Lenz, Stacey Dahlstrorn, Colleen Gabor, Any hilar, Rich "Jake" Jacobson. <br />(Committee Chair), Moate Johnson, Dorothy LaBrash, Rose Masanz, Marcy McNeal, James <br />McNeal, Sarah McNeal, Gale Pederson, Nancy Robbins, Jill Anfang, Lonnie Brokke, Debbie Cash, <br />and Jeff Evenson. <br />ABSENT: Julie Larson, Jeff Seifriz, Jim Stark, Rich Straumann, and Bob Willmus. <br />VISITORS: Mary Jean and Don Glende, Robert Meyer, Jan Kurhajctz, Mary Heller <br />0 Introductions <br />General purpose and outcome of the Planning Committee <br />Website with email address to be set up, to encourage public input as well as a communication <br />i.cation <br />tool for this committee <br />B Explanation of notebook all Committee members were given. <br />• Brief history and current status of HANC (Lonnie Brokke) <br />• Reduction in school group visits — reduced funding for field trips for schools as one factor. Need <br />to correlate program offerings with educational outcome standards (Stacy Dahlstrom). <br />® Jake Jacobson explained that in the future, each meeting of the Planning Committee will usually <br />feature a single topic to be investigated (such as programs for school groups, mentioned above). <br />Each meeting will have ample opportunity for questions, facilitated brainstorming, and <br />"challenges" to the committee members. [The following are ideas for topics?] <br />o Monte Johnson commented on the need to review the resources and capabilities of HANC <br />before going forward with the planning process <br />o James McNeal asked to see the "big picture," "big goals" before taking a look at smaller <br />issues. ,Tan Kurhajetz suggested that thinking about resources/capabilities first could be <br />limiting the imagination — think big. <br />o Sarah Lenz wondered about the sustainability, both fiscal and environmental, of HANC <br />o Dorothy LaBrash stated the need to understand the "competition" (other Mature centers) and <br />also how to court corporate sponsors. <br />Homework: <br />o Review the Imagine Roseville 2025 final report with an eye towards application to <br />HANC <br />o Make a list of goals we'd each like to see happen at HANC <br />Meeting frequency to be about once a month, third Thursday of the month until further notice. Next <br />meeting on Thursday, May 17, 2007, 6:30 — 8:30 pin. at HANC. <br />
