Minutes - HANC Planning Committee <br />Meeting 44, July 26, 2007 <br />PRESENT: Sarah Brodt Lenz, Stacey Dahlstrom, Colleen Gabor, Amy Ihlan, Rich "Jake" Jacobson <br />(Cormnittee Chair), Dorothy LaBrash, Julie Larson, James McNeal, Gale Pederson, Nancy Robbins, <br />Jeff Seifriz, Rich Straumann, Bob Willmus, Jill Anfang, Lonnie Brokke, and .Teff Evenson. <br />ABSENT: Monte Johnson, Rose Masanz, Marcy McNeal, Sarah McNeal, Jim Stark, Debbie Cash <br />VISITOR: Don Glende <br />+ Introductions and review of meeting notes. <br />Comments by Committee members that individually visited other area nature centers <br />o Jeff Seifriz visited Maplewood N.C., display of photographs he took, passed around a <br />selection of their flyers and brochures. <br />o Sarah Lenz visited a nature center in Urbana, IL. Was most impressed with a "quiet room" <br />with windows overlooking a bird -watching area, wasn't sure if microphones piped in outside <br />sounds. <br />+ Lonnie gave overview of the history of planning in Roseville, especially with regard to parks. <br />+ <br />Jeff Evenson gave a PowerPoint presentation (hard copies were distributed to all in attendance) <br />regarding recent redesign of Ladyslipper Park in northeast Roseville. <br />• Jill handed out a colorful worksheet, "Master planning & programming." Homework assignment <br />is to go through this worksheet, think about the questions, fill in some of the blanks, and we'll <br />discuss at the next meeting. <br />• Discussion of restoration needs at HANC <br />o Invasive plants such as purple loosestrife and canary reed grass <br />a Leaf recycling center impact on HANC wetland? <br />o Need to involve watershed people (we have — ,Tim Stark) <br />o DNR website was mentioned as source of good background information on wetlands and <br />issues involved <br />• Rescheduled visit to area nature centers — August 18?
