<br /> <br />ROSEVILLE PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION <br />MINUTES OF MEETING OF OCTOBER 2, 2007 <br />ROSEVILLE CITY HALL ~ 7:00PM <br /> <br />PRESENT: <br /> Brodt Lenz, Hiber, Kamrath, Kendall, Kruzel, Pederson, Ristow, Stark, Willmus <br />ABSENT: <br /> Johnson (notified staff of absence) <br />STAFF: <br /> Brokke, Anfang <br /> <br /> INTRODUCTIONS/ROLL CALL/PUBLIC COMMENT <br />1. <br />No Public Comment <br /> <br /> INTRODUCTION OF BEN KENDALL as YOUTH REPRESENTATIVE <br />2. <br />Ben Kendall, a Roseville Area High School Junior, was recently appointed as Youth Representative to the <br />Parks and Recreation Commission. Tonight was Ben’s first official commission meeting. Ben introduced <br />himself sharing his involvement on RAHS Lacrosse and Swim teams as well as being an Eagle Scout. <br /> <br /> APPROVAL OF MINUTES – AUGUST 7, 2007 MEETING <br />3. <br />Commission Recommendation:. <br /> Minutes of the August 7, 2007 meeting were unanimously approved <br /> <br /> APPROVAL OF MINUTES – SEPTEMBER 4, 2007 MEETING <br />4. <br />Commission Recommendation: <br /> Minutes of the September 4, 2007 meeting were unanimously approved, <br />. <br />Willmus abstained from vote as he was not in attendance of the meeting <br /> <br /> SEPTEMBER TOUR DISCUSSION <br />5. <br />Commissioners discussed the recent parks and facilities tour. Comments and feedback included; <br /> <br />Nice to go to different locations <br />o <br /> <br />No matter how many times you take the tour you always learn something about the Roseville Parks and <br />o <br />Recreation System <br /> <br />Helpful to see firsthand some of the areas that have been part of recent commission discussions <br />o <br /> <br />Brokke asked for feedback to help plan future tours, the response included; <br />o <br /> <br />Good to alternate between weekends and evenings. Weekends give you the opportunity to <br />o <br />extend the tour a bit. <br /> <br /> DEPARTMENT REVIEW <br />6. <br />Jill Anfang briefed the Commission on upcoming and recently hosted events. <br /> <br />Chad Hofmeister, University of Minnesota senior, spent a few minutes talking with the Commission about his <br />fall internship with Parks and Recreation. <br /> <br /> MRPA COMMISSION AND BOARD SYMPOSIUM <br />7. <br />Anfang informed Commissioners on the upcoming Commission and Board Symposium presented by MRPA. <br />The event is scheduled for March 11, 2008 at the Roseville Skating Center. A tentative agenda has been set <br />with topics involving Roles and Responsibilities, NIMBY Syndrome and Effective Lobbying, Communication <br />and Partnerships. More information to follow in the coming months. <br /> <br /> CITY OPEN HOUSE ON OCTOBER 13 <br />8. <br />th <br />Anfang updated Commissioners on the October 13 Roseville City Open House. The Family Friendly event <br />will inform, entertain and engage the community. Commissioners were encouraged to spend some time at the <br />Open House meeting and greeting the community. Also included in the day’s festivities is a celebration of the <br />completion of the Skating Center expansion and renovation. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />
