Regular City Council Meeting <br /> Monday,July 14,2014 <br /> Page 6 <br /> Manager Trudgeon opined that he didn't anticipate the City falling out of compli- <br /> ance with the program. <br /> Councilmember Laliberte cautioned that entering into such positive programs as <br /> this were good steps to take, but the perception of making a decision that may not <br /> allow the City to continue in a program long-term was never good; and her goal <br /> was to ensure the City continued to meet requirements of the Minnesota Green- <br /> Step Cities Program. <br /> City Manager Trudgeon advised that the City was already meeting requirements, <br /> and did qualify; but reiterated that if the City chose to strive for a higher step in <br /> the future, there may be a cost that would require further discussion by the City <br /> Council. <br /> Councilmember McGehee thanked staff for bringing this forward, since she had <br /> understood that the process had been started some time ago, but didn't realize a <br /> formal resolution was needed. Councilmember McGehee opined that the program <br /> had been impressively presented jointly by the PWETC and former Roseville <br /> Communications Specialist Tim Pratt. Councilmember McGehee further opined <br /> that this was a good program, allowing the City to work toward sustainability ef- <br /> forts and enhancing the goals of the "Living Smarter" marketing campaign, and <br /> represented a program designed for long-term sustainability. <br /> Councilmember Etten echoed the comments of Councilmember McGehee; and <br /> advised that his rationale in bringing the item up was that the program provided a <br /> number of positive ways to run the City for the health of its residents, the budget <br /> and overall operations. <br /> Etten moved, Willmus seconded, adoption of Resolution No. 11162 (Attachment <br /> A) entitled, "Resolution Authorizing the City of Roseville to Participate in the <br /> Minnesota GreenStep Cities Program." <br /> Roll Call <br /> Ayes: McGehee; Willmus: Laliberte; Etten; Roe. <br /> Nays: None. <br /> g. Approve Park Building Electronic Door Access Control and Video Security <br /> At request of Mayor Roe, City Manager Trudgeon summarized this request as de- <br /> tailed in the RCA dated July 14, 2014. <br /> City Manager Trudgeon briefly noted that this request was for step one of the pro- <br /> cess by installing hardware, and connection of fiber optic service to the Arbore- <br /> tum at a modest cost of$8,000; with other connections much more costly and still <br /> pending based on policy discussions by the City Council.
