TSCHIDA OW ASSO HILLS PLAT 4 The Borrow Excavation shall be in areas within the project as designated by the Engineer, and shall be removed and replaced. All costs of replacing the Borrow Excavation with other materials from the project site shall be incidental. The basis of measurement and payment for Borrow Excavation shall be Measured Quantity and shaH be at the bid unit price for subgrade excavation. 6. SITE DRAINAGE AND EROSION CONTROL The Contractor shaH be responsible for scheduling and conducting alJ of his various grading operations in a sequence that will insure that adequate drainage in all project areas is maintained at all times. Adequate drainage is interpreted as dispersal of existing or precipitated water as necessary to prevent interference with grading operations, delays or accumulations adversely affecting the soils. Erosion and sediment control measures by the Contractor shall be continuous or recurring as may be necessary on each drainage feature to insure adequate prevention of undesirable soil movement. This may entail the construction of temporary sedimentation basins and filter barriers which will pass water but strain out acceptable percentages of the sediment load. Diversion structures such as temporary compacted earth dikes, silt fences staked in place, sandbagging, side ditching and furrows shalJ be constructed where needed to intercept runoff before damaging concentrations can erode or pollute. The basis of payment for site drainage and erosion control will be at the bid unit price for seeding and mulch and silt fence. Any additional work necessary to control site drainage, erosion and sediment transport shaH be incidental. 7. SEEDING AND MULCH The Contractor shall furnish and install Seed Mixture No.5 (MnDOT 3876) and Type I Mulch (MnDOT 3822) on six (6) inches of topsoil in disturbed yard areas outside the proposed bldg. and paved areas. Seeding and mulching of disturbed areas shall be done within 14 days. Seeding and mulching shall not be done until the Engineer has inspected the area and approved the subgrade preparation and topsoil materials. The basis of measurement and payment for seeding and mulch shall be measured quantity and shaH be at the bid unit price. 8. METHOD OF MEASUREMENT AND PAYMENT FOR GRADING CONSTRUCTION The basis of measurement and payment for this work shall be Lump Sum, Plan Quantity or Measured Quantity, whichever is specified. -3-
