(1) The bottom of the watermaiil is at least 18 inches above the top of the sewer; (2) Where this vertical separation cannot be obtained, the sewer shall be construction of materials and with joints that are equivalent to watermain standards of construction and shall be pressure tested to assure water tightness prior to backfilling. No valve or other control on the existing system shall be operated for any purpose by the CONTRACTOR without approval by the ENGINEER, and all consumers affected by such operation shall be notified by the OWNER at least one hour before the operation and be advised of the probable time when service shall be restored. The CONTRACTOR shall give the Water Department one day notiCe when it is necessary to take a watermain out of service. Disruption of service shall be during the time of day when the least inconvenience will be caused to the customer.
