One and one-half and two
inch service pipe shall have a 45 degree bend connected to the corporation stop to
facilitate the downward .expansion loop. The.connection will be a wet tap unless
authorized by the ENGINEER., his representative. specified in the "Special Conditions"
Section 100 or on the plans.

Unless otherwise indicated. service lines shall be installed on a straight line at right
angles to the water main or property line as directed by the ENGINEER. ." Tubing shall be cut squarely and all edge roughness shall be
removed prior to flaring. All couplings shall be tightened securely. so the flared end fits
snugly against the bevel of the fitting without leakage. The flared joint couplings shall
be made up without the use of jointing compounds.

303.404 WET TAPPING A LATERAL TO AMAIN

When tapping a lateral watermain or service to an existing watennain, the
. CONTRACTOR shall be required to make connection to the existing watennain while
the existing wat~nnain is under pressure (i.e.. wet tap) using an A WW A approved
drilling machine. tapping sleeve "and tapping valve. Conductivity must be maintained
from the main that was tapped to the new main by whatever methods necessary. A
connection to a!l existing watermain by methods other than a wet tap can be done o~y
" with approval of the ENGINEER or if specifically shown on the plan or "Special
Conditions" Section 100. The CONTRACTOR shall verify the size of the existing
watennain prior to ordering t.he fittings for the connection.

303.405 LOCATION RECORDS

Each water service shall be marked at the property line by a 4" X 4" timber six feet to
eight feet in length embedded four feet below grade. The 4" X 4" timber will be
supplied by the CONTRACTOR.

Careful records shalrbe kept cooperatively by the CONTRACTOR'S and OWNER's
representative (ENGINEER or Inspector) as to size. type and location of service tap.
and ties to the curb boxes to existing buildings.
