<br />502.2 JOINTS <br /> <br />Pipe joints shall meet the requirements of AS.T.M. Specification C-361; Bureau of <br />Reclamation, Type R-4. Joints between sections in manholes and catch basins shall be <br />cement mortar. Precast manhole joint material shall be of an approved gasket. <br /> <br />502.3 MANHOLES AND CATCH BASINS <br /> <br />Manholes shall be precast concrete manholes. Precast concrete manholes shall comply <br />with AS.T.M. Designation C-478. Manholes shall be four feet (4') in diameter unless <br />otherwise noted on the plans. Manhole precast top sections shall be eccentric cones or <br />flat slab as indicated in the Plans. <br /> <br />Catch Basins shall be precast concrete catch basins. Precast catch basins shall comply <br />with AS.T.M. Designation C-478. Catch Basins shall be 27" in diameter unless <br />otherwise noted on the plans and shall be Cretex Type 433F or approved equal. Precast <br />segmental block can be used and shall conform to A.S.T.M. Designation C-139. Blocks <br />shall provide an eight inch (8") wall thickness. All block manholes shall be grouted <br />inside and outside to insure water tightness. <br /> <br />It is the intent that where precast manholes and catch basins are used, that adjustment <br />rings be provided to allow for a minimum of six inches (6") of adjustment and a <br />maximum of 12 inches (12") of adjustment. All manholes and catch basins shall be <br />watertight. <br /> <br />Mortar shall conform to AS.T.M. Designation C-270 under Property Specification. <br />Hydrated Lime conforming to AS.T.M. Designation C-207 shall be used in the <br />mixture. Mortar aggregate shall conform to AS.T.M. Designation C-I44. <br /> <br />I <br />, <br /> <br />502.4 CASTINGS <br /> <br />Manhole and catch basin castings shall be Neenah Foundry, ESS Bros., or approved <br />equal, and shall be as noted on plans, details, or in drainage chart. Manhole casting shall <br />have two (2) open pick holes in the cover. <br /> <br />Manhole steps shall be cast iron, plastic, or aluminum alloy equal to Neenah R-1980 <br />Series 1 and 2 and spaced at sixteen inches (16"). <br /> <br /> <br />502.5 MANHOLE STEPS <br /> <br />502.6 APRONS WI1H TRASH GUARDS <br /> <br />All aprons will be furnished with trash guards and tied to the next two upstream pipes <br />using "un bolt fasteners as shown on the detail sheet of the plans. <br /> <br />502.7 INSULATION <br /> <br />500-2 <br />
