<br />Insulation shall be equal to Dow Chemical Company STYROFOAM III brand plastic <br />foam, or approved equal. <br /> <br />502.8 GRANULAR MATERIAL <br /> <br />Granular materials shall be furnished for foundation backfill, bedding or other purposes, <br />in accordance with Roseville Standard Specification 602.1. <br /> <br />503.0 CONSTRUCTION REQUIREMENTS <br />503.1 INSPECTION AND RESPONSIBILITY OF MATERIALS <br /> <br />The inspection and responsibility of materials will be as specified in Standard <br />Specifications Section 303.1. <br /> <br />I <br />I <br />~J <br />J <br />I <br />J <br />.J <br />J <br />J <br />J <br />) <br />J <br />" <br /> <br />503.2 EXCAVATION, PREPARATION OF TRENCH AND RESTORATION <br /> <br />Excavation, preparation of trench and restoration is described in Section ~OO, 200 and <br />600 of the Standard Specifications. <br /> <br />503.3 PIPE, MANHOLE AND CATCH BASIN PLACEMENT PROCEDURE <br /> <br />The primary line and grade will be performed as specified in Special Conditions Section <br />100. No deviation from the required line or grade will be allowed except with the <br />consent of the ENGINEER. <br /> <br />Trench excavation and bedding preparations shall proceed ahea~ of pipe placement as <br />will permit proper placement and joining of the pipe and fittings at the prescribed grade <br />and alignment without unnecessary hindrance. Every reasonable precaution shall be <br />taken to prevent foreign materials from entering the pipe while it is being placed in the <br />line. The pipe, manhole and catch basin materials shall be carefully lowered into laying <br />position by the use of suitable restraining devices. Under no circumstances shall the pipe <br />be dropped or dumped into the trench. <br /> <br />Before being lowered into laying position, the Contractor shall make a thorough visual <br />inspection of each pipe section and appurtenant units to detect damage, foreign matter <br />needing remov~ or unsound conditions that may need corrective action or be cause for <br />rejection. Inspection procedure shall be as approved by the ENGINEER, with special <br />methods being required as he deems necessary to check out suspected defects more <br />definitely. The Contractor shall infonn the ENGINEER of any defects discovered and <br />the ENGINEER will prescribe the required corrective actions or order rejection and <br />prompt removal from the site. <br /> <br />Inunediately before placement, the joint surfaces of each pipe section and fitting shall be <br />inspected for the presence of foreign matter, coating blisters, rough edges or projections, <br /> <br />500-3 <br /> <br />\ <br />
