The City reserves the right to have <br />density and stability test performed to insure the material is being placed properly. <br /> <br />Use of vibratory rollers will be permitted on a performance basis in accordance with <br />the provisions of Section 1805. <br /> <br />4.6 Concrete Curb and Gutter (2531) <br /> <br />A.) Cure concrete using the membrane method. Apply membrane to all exposed surfaces, <br />including formed surfaces. <br /> <br />Apply membrane to the back of curb and face of gutter as soon as forms are stripped. <br /> <br />Oil surface treatments will be required for concrete placed after September 1. <br /> <br />Excavation and grading for curb construction shall be incidental to curb and gutter. <br /> <br />Project cleanup shall include backfill to back of curb and fine grading of all disturbed <br />areas. The cost of this work is to be incidental to the price bid per foot of curb and <br />gutter. Partial payment will not be made on cUrb and gutter until backfilling is <br />completed. <br /> <br />B.) Concrete Sidewalk thickness shall increase from 4" to 6" thick at all driveways. <br /> <br />4.7 Adjust Utility Castings <br /> <br />Prior to the start of bituminous surfacing, the contractor shall inspect all water valve <br />boxes to assure that they are clean, vertical, undamaged, and the valves operable. <br />Misaligned or damaged boxes shall be replaced and all boxes lowered and manhole <br />castings replaced. Manhole adjustment rings and frames shall be set in a full bed of <br />mortar: wood shims shall not be'permitted. The tops of boxes and castings shall be set <br />at an elevation approximately one-quarter inch (1/4") below the finished grade and <br />cross section of the street. ',Bituminous base removed for the adjustments shall be <br />replaced and thoroughly compacted by mechanical tamper and roller. <br /> <br />-5- <br />
