1.0 INSPECTION SUMMARY The asbestos inspection of the NCR Comten Training Center found the following aSbestos-containing materials and approximate quantities: 1. Thermal Systems Insulation = 120 Fittings 10 Linear Feet 2. Thermal Water Heater Insulation = 210 Square Feet 3. Floor Tile (9" x 9") = 7,500 Square Feet These materials have isolated damage and should be repaired or removed. All but about 10 linear feet of pipe insulation was determined to be nonasbestos. 2.0 INSPECTION METHODS The asbestos inspection of the NCR facility was conducted by Mr. Mark inspector and management planner. conducted on May 17, 1991. The ~u~ose of the ins~ection was to identify, quantify, evaluate condltion of, accessibllity of, and indicate location of aSbestos-containing materials (ACM)--both friable and nonfriable types. Floor plans for the facility were provided by NCR Comten to provide recordkeeping by mapping the sample location of the suspect materials. The entire facility was inspected for sus~ect asbestos-containing aaterials. Sus~ect ACM {such as thermal lnsulation on pipes, and other hot/cold ltems, celling and floor tile, ceiling panels, and hardboard sheetin~) was observed, touched, representatively sampled, and submltted to Braun Laboratories for analysis to ~etermine the percent concentration and type of asbestos (if any) In the samples. Location of samples are shown on the accompanying figures. Refer to Figures 1-6. It is possible that not all the ACM in the facility was 'dentified. For example, roofing materials, non-accessible iling plenums, and pipe chases inside walls. If any insulation terial is encountered that does not ap~ear in this report, t resembles ACM, that particular materlal should be valuated either by visual or if necessary, analytical means to etermine that it aoes or does not contain asbestos.
