3.0 RESULTS OF INSPECTION

3.1 Types of ACM Identified

Refer to the INSPECTION RESULTS TABLE for details of the
results.

Friable Thermal Insulation

The friable asbestos-containing material identified in the
NCR Comten Training Center is thermal systems insulation.
The water heater tank insulation and the pipe fittings
insulation were found to contain asbestos. A 6 inch pipe,
approximately 10 feet long, on the boiler is wra~ped with
asbestos-containing insulation. The remaining ~1pe
insulation in the building is not asbestos. (F1gure 1)

Nonfriable Floor Tile

The 9" x 9" floor tiles sampled in the training center
(Figure 3) were sampled and found to contain asbestos. The
floor tiles are a nonfriable material until they are broken
up. Isolated areas are damaged and the majority of the tile
are very brittle. The mastic was found not to contain
asbestos.

The 12" x 12" floor tiles are not asbestos.

Miscellaneous Materials

2' x 4' ceiling tiles were sampled in the Facility (Figure 2)
and are not asbestos.

The sheetrock panels and tectum ceiling were sampled and are
not asbestos.

3.2 Quantity Summary of ACM Identified
The approximate quantities of ACM identified are as follows:
- Thermal Systems Insulation = 120 Fittings
10 Linear Feet

- Thermal Water Heater Insulation =

210 Square Feet

- Floor Tile (9" x 9")

= 7,500 Square Feet

3.3 Analytical Results
Refer to the attached Braun Laboratory Report

lea COHTEN ASBESTOS REPORT

PAGE 3
