A senior housing endeavor
such as this is not only a need in our community, but would also be an asset to the Roseville community as
well as the city businesses which include the health care options that 'currently exist in Roseville and
surrounding cities.

Having worked in the Roseville community for 7 years, I have seen the need for health care in the city
increase greatly. We at Lake Ridge Rehabilitation & Specialty Care Center, have seen our admissions
triple over the past 5 years going from just 500 in 1993 to over 1,500 in 1997. We attribute this increase to
the development of subacute care which in turn offers placement to patients who have shorter hospital
stays, the increased usage of HMO & PPO providers, and also to the fact that Roseville has a high senior
population.

As a provider of health care services, Lake Ridge finds placement for individuals along the continuum of
care. Often when a person is admitted to a hospital or long term care facility they are unable or are unsure
if they will be able to return home. This means there is an increased need for options such as Adult Day
Services, Long Term Care, Alzheimer's or Dementia Specific Care, Subacute Care, In-Patient! Out-Patient
Rehabilitation Services, Home Care, Assisted Living and Independent Living. We have the opportunity to
complete this continuum of care within 1 city block in Roseville. Lake Ridge offers Long Term Care,
Subacute Care, Alzheimer's Dementia Specific Care, In-Patient! Out-Patient Rehabilitation Services, and
Adult Day Services. Lake Ridge has a close working relationship with Rosewood Estates across the street,
which offers Assisted Living services. To complete our continuum of care in Roseville, we need an
Independent Living option for the people we serve.

Please feel free to contact us should you have any questions or need additional information at 483-5431.

Sincerely,

-L.~

Travis Palmquist
Executive Director

~ ~rY\f.,Q

Michelle Hummel
Director of Public &
Professional Relations

Lake Ridge Rehabilitation & Specialty Care Center' 2727 North Victoria' St. Paul, MN 55113 . 612/483.5431 . 6] 2/486-2461 FAX
