The v.ariances for the proposed structure include a 10' variance from
the street setback and a 9' variance from the lake setback. These variances were proposed because the lot in
question is wide and shallow.

The DNR does not object to the approval of the proposed variance, and recommends that the following conditions
be attached to the variance:

1. Native vegetation should be planted and maintained within the 37.5' shore impact zone. Undesirable
plant species that are not planted in the shore impact zone may be removed and the vegetation should
be mowed only once a year.

2. The new structure should be screened rrom view on Walsh Lake using existing trees and additional trees
should be planted where additional screening is required. Essentially, no trees should be removed from
the shore impact zone.

3. The house, driveway, and other impervious surfaces located at 1935 Lake Street should drain away from
Walsh Lake.

4. There should be no variance allowed irom the 25% impervious surface limit that is aliowed by the
Roseville Shoreland Ordinance. For an eight thousand square foot lot the maximwn amount of
impervious surface would be two thousand square feet.

Thank you for faxing the variance request to the DNR for review. Should you have any questions concerning this
letter, please contact me at 772-7910.

A. cerely, t
~~~~
I.
