<br />Draft 11/13/98 <br /> <br />Economic & Redevelopment P!an <br /> <br />The City of Roseville places a strong emphasis on the enhanced quality of life for its <br />residents and businesses through the balance and diversity of commercial and <br />industrial development. This is achieved through economic and redevelopment <br />strategies that are reviewed annually and adjusted according to market conditions, <br />resources and current opportunities. The retention and expansion of the business <br />sector and redevelopment of existing commercial and industrial land is critical to the <br />success of short and long-range plans. Each year the plan is reviewed and measured <br />based upon current conditions and outcomes. <br /> <br />A. Existing Conditions: <br /> <br />Number of Businesses: (1998 estimate) <br />GI Retail- 989 <br />. Office - 811 <br />. Industrial - 367 <br />III Total - 2,167 <br /> <br />Number of Employees: (1998 estimate) <br />III Retail - 15,401 <br />III Office - 12,628 <br />" Industrial- 7,301 <br />o Total- 35,330 <br /> <br />Breakdown of existing land use: <br />. Roseville is comprised of approximately 17% retail, commercial and industrial <br />parcels with the remaining residential, institutional, parks and public lands. (see <br />attached chart - 1) <br /> <br />Building Permit Activity: <br />. Roseville has had significant building activity in the last 5 years. It is estimated that <br />1998 will be a record-breaking year in the total number of permits issued. As of <br />November 1,1998, a total of 1,378 permits were issued, compared to a total of 1,414 <br />in 1997 arid 1204 in 1996. (see attached chart - 2) <br /> <br />B. General City Goals & Policies Related to Business Growth and the <br />Redevelopment of Property <br /> <br />Strive for Beautification & Quality Design: <br /> <br />· Eliminate blight and prevent deterioration of buildings and infrastructure.
