<br />2.0 COMMENT <br /> <br />In reviewing this reques~ staff made the following findings: <br /> <br />2:1 The requested changes are technical in nature and do not alter current goals and <br />policies. The amendment to Section 1016.26 as proposed is consistent with the <br />Comprehensive Plan, Section 8 - Environmental Protection. <br /> <br />2.2 The proposal meets clarifies city procedure when reviewing new proposals and <br />provides direction regarding remedial and maintenance work in the surface water <br />management system. <br /> <br />2.3 The 120-day period for completion of the ordinance amendment after Metropolitan <br />Council approval appears reasonable. <br /> <br />3.0 STAFF RECOMMENDATION <br /> <br />Based on the findings outlined in Section 3 staff recommends approval of the resolution <br />requesting approval of the Comprehensive Plan, with the provision that the City amend its <br />surface water management code language within Section 1016.26 within 120 days after <br />submission of the resolution. <br /> <br />Staff also recommends approval of a first reading of the proposed amendment to the City <br />Code, Section 1016.26 relating to surface water management. <br /> <br />4.0 SUGGESTED COUNCIL ACTION <br /> <br />Adopt a resolution approving the resolution requesting approval of the Comprehensive <br />Plan, with the understanding that the City will amend its surface water management code <br />language within Section 1016.26 within 120 days after Metropolitan Council approval. <br /> <br />By motion, approve a first reading of the proposed ordinance amending Section 1016.26 of <br />the City Code relating to Surface Water Management. <br /> <br />Attachments: <br />Application Schedule: <br />Prepared by: <br /> <br />Draft Resolution, Draft Ordinance, Metro Council letter (10/22/99) <br />None. <br />Dennis Welsch (490-2232) <br /> <br />Q:\Planning Files\3174\ RCA(112299).doc <br /> <br />PF3174 - RCA (112299).doc Page 2 of2 <br />
