Joseph Smith asked that Hamline Shopping Center be part of the process and consideration.
This could be a collaborative project with private sector and is within a five-minute walk.

Scott Berg noted the City Center Task Force (CcrF) recommended geographic continuity -
be in one site; siting the problem with the library.

Pat Johnson noted the CCTF was originally concerned about other development that might
occur.

Chair Wietecki summarized: CCTF was premature in going to the Planning Commission;
suggested that the CcrF withdraw the request from the Planning Commission and
continue to plan within the current boundary of the CcrF - which has been shrunk down
to a working plan area. At a later date when more details will be available, the CcrF could
again present a detailed phase 2 report including economics to the Planning Commission.

Craig Klausing agreed that the Comprehensive Plan Planning District boundary request
should be withdrawn, but the process should be kept moving forward.

Chair Wietecki noted the CCTF will develop a list of options for the Planning Commission
and the City Council.

Jan Vanderwall asked that the public provide an answer to "what are the important things
that should be placed on this site?"

Chair Wietecki suggested public comment works best when the public can be shown
options, but more public input is needed.

Kim Way suggested using the 5 or 10 minute walking distance as the planning area.

Kim Way described the City Square concept.

Scott Berg noted that options are needed and can be more specific "within the purple box"
(existing city complex). He asked that the boundary be described to include planning areas
adjacent to the "purple box".

Consensus: Withdraw request at 7/14/99 Planning Commission meeting at this time
and note that Howard Johnson Park (or any Park) is not going to be used for City
Center structures.

Kim Way noted that the CCTF cannot plan in a "acuwn; the Task Force must look at
alternatives. He reviewed the City Square concept and parking needs. He also described
concept alternatives called "Main Street" and "Parkway",

Consensus: The City Square is the concept the CcrF will examine in more detail in
Phase 2. It is the Roseville meeting "place" with a mixed-use component.

Pat Johnson noted that the concept is a campus with green space,
