June 11, 1999 Ms Sybil Smith 3075 Woodbridge Street Roseville, Minnesota 55113 HE: Request for a driveway Setback Variance to reduce setback from 30 feet to 19.7 feet Dear Ms Smith: The Planning Commission, at their meeting ofJune 9, 1999, reviewed your application for a variance from Section 703.04 of the City Code relating to reduction of the required driveway setback from 30 feet to 19.7 feet. This request is prompted by the City's pavement Management Plan and reconstruction of Woodbridge Street. Based on staff findings outlined below, the Planning Commission recommended your request be approved: Section 1013.02 requires the applicant to demonstrate a physical hardship and to demonstrate that no practical alternatives exist that would reduce the need for a variance. Relocating the access point to meet the 30 foot setback require the relocation of a US West utility box and the removal/relocation of an existing shrub. In order to match correctly into the existing driveway, the access point relocation would require substantial modifications. The proposed variance, if granted, will not adversely affect the public health, safety, or general welfare, provided standards/conditions are attached to insure the redevelopment Your application, together with the Planning Commission's recommendation, will be forwarded to the City Council on Monday, June 29th for final action. The City Council meeting starts at 6:30 p.m., and is held in the Council Chambers of the City Hall.
