<br />TO: The Honorable City Council and the Planning and Zoning <br />Administrator of the City of Roseville <br /> <br />The Church of St. Rose of Lima of Rosetown, Minnesota, a <br /> <br />Minnesota corporation, is a member of the Roman Catholic parish <br /> <br />community. The church celebrated its 50th Anniversary as a good <br />( <br />citizen of the City of Roseville in 1989. <br /> <br />The parish consists of approximately 2,200 families <br />, <br /> <br />. <br />(estimated at 6,500 people) mOEt of whom are r~sidents, <br /> <br />homeowners and taxpayers in Roseville. <br /> <br />Our property consists of approximatety 1 1/2 city blocks <br /> <br />. <br />facing Hamline Avenue in the City of Rose.ville and bounded on the <br /> <br />West by Hamline Avenue, on the East by Dellwood Avenue, on the <br /> <br />North by Eldridge Avenue and on the South by Skillman Avenue. <br /> <br />The property includes a church, a school, a convent and a <br /> <br />parish center that houses the general officers for the church and <br /> <br />school, the priests living quarters and contains meeting rooms <br /> <br />for various related activities. <br /> <br />We have 408 students in our school in grildes kindergarten <br /> <br />through 8th grade, and in addition thereto, they are presently <br /> <br />enrolled in religious education, another 562 parishioners, <br /> <br />consisting of children through adults. <br /> <br />In the summer and fall of 1989 we resurfaced our main <br /> <br />parking lot on the East side of the church. <br /> <br />We considered this <br /> <br />to be a maintenance item of an existing facili.ty, not a change or <br /> <br />new construction and did not realize a permit was required, and <br /> <br />accordingly, none was applied for. <br /> <br />.._----+--------- -_... <br />
