Senior Housing Opportunities - Roseville completed a senior housing market study in
1998, which revealed the following.

There is a low percentage of Roseville residents in designated senior housing.
There is a larger percentage of seniors in Roseville than the state average and the
population is expected to continue to grow.
Roseville seniors are slightly more affluent than seniors in the surrounding
communities, including St. Paul.
There is a high occupancy rate in existing Roseville senior housing complexes.
Focus group discussions revealed that there is a need for more affordable senior
housing for Roseville seniors, that Roseville is a desirable location for seniors to live
and that public transportation available next to senior housing is important.
Affordable senior housing is best developed in collaboration with an experienced
social or institutional sponsor.

It is anticipated that additional funding will be needed to enable the development of
needed affordable senior housing for Roseville residents.

\\Victoria\CommDev\Livable Communities\Livable Communities Action Plan - 2000.doc

11
