Thomas Paschke
March 9, 2000
Page 2

Family Academy's leased space will be a low traffic generator. We intend to work closely
with the Roseville community. The basis of the school is parental involvement and
innovative technology focusing on community involvement. The Roseville community
will be consistently educated about the school, their families and mission. The Roseville
and ISD 916 school boards will oversee Family Academy's operations as well.

Family Academy does not impose any inherent issues to the Roseville community by
requesting a re-zoning of the existing "special" school to a full education facility for grades
K-8.

Existing tenants of the Hamline Shopping Center, (Aurelio's and Marc Anthony's Hair
Salon), look forward to Family Academy becoming new tenants. Family Academy will
generate business for the existing tenants and hope to attract new tenants to the center as
well.

Family Academy's leased space in the Hamline Shopping Center has already peaked the
interest of other developers desiring to lease space in the Hamline Shopping Center. For
example, the planning committee of Family Academy has been contacted by a potential
group of business developers to open a coffee and bagel shop in the adjacent space. There
has also been a spark of interest from a local pediatric office to open a branch office at
Hamline.

Family Academy's goal is to have a long-term commitment in the community of Roseville.

At ,thjs time, we are requesting that the planning commission recommend to the Roseville
City Council (at its scheduled meeting of April 12th) to waive the first reading and hold the
second reading to process at the scheduled public council meeting set for April 24th.

Please contact me if the planning commission forsees any difficulties in us obtaining
approval of the requested school re-zoning. I am available by telephone at 651.248.4056.

~~J~

Carol L. Koski
Plalming Committee of Family Academy

jclk
