VI. Staff

A. Identify the school staff composition.

The school will provide a ratio of 1: 15 in Kindergarten and 1: 20 in grades 1 sc
through 8th. In each level, there will be a unit leader who will conduct weekly
meetings with the particular unit and be the liaison to the administrative team to
ensure effective communication. We have budgeted for two paraprofessionals, an
administrative assistant and fInance manager. A Dean of Students & Families has
been budgeted to ensure that families and students academic, social, emotional and
physical needs are been addressed and met.

B. Provide a statement of assurance that all teaching staff will be appropriately
licensed.

Family Academy assures that teachers hired to work will hold valid licenses to
perform the services for which they are employed, as defIned by section 122A.15,
subdivision 1 of the statutes.

All teachers and staff will be required to have 2 percent of the nwnber of hours
worked each year of in service in order ensure employment for the following school
year. This in service requirement nor only assures that the staff will have sufficient
course work for renewing their licenses but also that they are keeping current with
new and innovative ideas in the education fIeld. In addition, staff will be required to
have background studies done before they are hired for any position in the school.

C. Indicate how the school plans to track staff licensure and maintain current
records.

Family Academy will require each teacher to provide a current copy of the state
teaching license when they submit an application for employment. A separate
personnel file will be maintained for each teacher. Each teacher will be advised of
the school's policy for meeting continuing education requirements. The school's
human resource director will oversee the teacher's personnel statuS and status of
continuing education requirements. Verification of the teacher's license will also be
verified via the on-line licensure data base provided by the Department-of Children,
Families and Learning.

Family Academy Proposal - Page 14
February 29, 2000
