Kr1stin contacts City Planner, Thomas Paschke, to inqLlire about city cod., setbacks and <br />potential variances. We wem interested in understanding the proc:ess of obtaining a building <br />pennit far new construction. Mr. Paschke told us that we should attempt a plan showing 5 <br />foct sideyard setbacks, 30 foot streetside setbacks and 75 foot lakeside setbacks to avoid <br />any variance, Mr. Paschke instructed US that we were bound by 5 foot sideyard setback$ and <br />that the city would accept thal He told US our next step was to provide detailed site plans, <br />both present and proposed. <br /> <br />A meeting was set for the 2SVl of January with Mr. Paschke to show initial drawings, floor <br />plans and older surveys. He indicated that the drawings looked fine, Mr. Paschke instructed <br />us to obtain an updated site plan and survey and told us that his staff would review our <br />drawings and advise. <br /> <br />We received the attached letter dated January 26, 2000 as follow up from Mr. Paschke. In <br />closing, Mr. Paschke Instructed us that the DRC YIOuld review our proposal and prc"ide <br />direction on whether the proper process is a wriance or a setbac;:k permit Kristin spoke with <br />Mr. Paschke to clarify that in order to avoid a "ariance we should center the house on the <br />site and maintain 5 foot sideyard setbacks. <br /> <br />February 2000 <br />. The month was spent developing our new house plans with the archl~t and having the site <br />plan updated, <br /> <br />. Mr. Paschke told us to let him know when we applied for a building permit SD that he could <br />acMse his associatas in permits that we have been meeting with him concemiMS this <br />redevelopment. <br /> <br />March 2000 <br />. On the 27h of March KJistin called Mr. Pascke to let him know that we were ready to apply for <br />the building permit He advised us to bring our comptete permit application to him. <br /> <br />. On the 28111 of March Kristin met with Mr. Paschke and gave him our papers. He told us he <br />would get them to the right people, that he lNOuld be on vacation the following week and that <br />we should mceive our building permit in 10 days. Kristin expressed her concern that we <br />needed the approved building permit because our old house at 391 S. Owasso was being <br />moved on the 10'1)1. of April. Mr. Paschke indicated to Kristin not to worry_ <br /> <br />. On March 29tft Mr. Paschke left us a voice message indicating that everything looked good, <br />that he had to send our plans to the DNR for comment He told us he'd be out of the office <br />for a week and that he would tiOntact us upon hili ratlIm. This is the first mention of OIny <br />comment needed by the DNR concerning our plans. <br /> <br />. We then received the attached letlerfrom Mr. Pascke, dated March 30"', leading us to believe <br />that II staff has always allowed redevelopment of SUch /ors-. <br /> <br />April 2000 <br />. Week of April 3, 2000 permits are pulled for dWelling relocatian, water & sewer and <br />demelltion. <br />
