<br />completing additional landscaping, parking improvements, sidewalks and <br />storm water drainage work within one year. At the same time staff is working <br />with the owner of the Lexington Professional Building for an addition to his <br />business plus adding retail at the street level. The proposal includes a new <br />building fa<;:ade, parking improvements, landscaping and sidewalks. The design <br />follows the general Cornerstone concepts and would bring the building closer to <br />the street to encourage walking. Both property owners have discussed working <br />together to provide joint parking and to carry the new fa<;:ade scheme <br />throughout. Staff will continue to work with both property owners for the <br />successful improvements to the area using the Cornerstone concepts of <br />development. <br /> <br />8. Entry level- first time buyer affordable housing loan program - Council approved <br />participation in the Minnesota Cities Participation Program through Minnesota <br />Housing Finance Agency. $883,535 was awarded exclusively for Roseville for first time <br />homebuyer mortgages. Subsequently, the City participated in the Cities Special <br />Assistance Program, which increased the home buying limit from $95,000 to $112,500. <br /> <br />9. Reverse mortgages and establishing the level of comfort the banks must have to <br />market the concept - Staff continues to develop this program with the local banking <br />community. Two banker's forums were held by Roseville to discuss housing programs. <br /> <br />10. Housing preservation code revisions - Roseville is participating in a Housing Study <br />through the North Metro I-35W Corridor Coalition which will include <br />recommendations for housing preservation programs. <br /> <br />11. Housing program administrator - In January of 1998 Roseville hired an economic <br />development specialist. One of the responsibilities ofthis position is to administer and <br />enhance Roseville's housing programs. <br /> <br />12. The City continues to consider several sites for additional housing units. Staff <br />projects that there is adequate land available for the addition of 108 single family <br />attached, 322 single family detached and 262 multi family units by the year 2020 based <br />upon current trends. <br /> <br />13. Housing Revolving Loans - Roseville sponsors and funds five loan programs. The <br />attached chart summarizes the loan programs. Participation in the Community Fix-up <br />Program sponsored by Minnesota Housing Finance Agency has generated 9 loans <br />totaling $45,888 as of September 1998. <br /> <br />5 <br />
